Why Choose ExactFlat?
This was the #1 question from prospective customers. The top reasons are below:
ExactFlat use a 100% digital process from 3D to 2D sewing patterns. Digital process is preferred since it is faster, more accurate, and easier to make edits due to changing requirements.
ExactFlat has superior 3D to 2D due to higher accuracy and versatility. ExactFlat is consistently accurate for any type of complex surface and any type of material regardless of whether it is stretchy, semi stretchy, or non-stretchy. We can test your specific material and give you the mechanical properties for input into our flattening algorithms.
ExactFlat is easy to use. It can be learned in as little as 4 hours for experienced CAD users. This compares to upwards of 80 hours and $20,000 of learning time for some other competitors. Why is there such a huge difference? This is because we made a good business decision to have our technology complement SolidWorks 3D and Rhino 3D. As a result you have a pool of millions of trained and semi-trained CAD users from which to draw. Others have aligned with obscure 3D technologies that have few training options. The result is that the cost of this business decision is passed on to customers - ExactFlat takes 4 hours to learn, other product take 80 hours and up to $20,000 to learn.
The ExactFlat workflow is faster and less error prone because it has integrated all the tasks. Each step produces outputs for subsequent steps. The data and information hand-off is smooth and seamless. The advantage is clear. For example, with ExactFlat you can create a real-time dynamic nest of your parts in seconds without complicated set-up, file transfer, and re-entering data.
ExactFlat supports upstream 3D scanning and any DXF capable CNC cutter. This ads versatility to your workflow that other products cannot easily accomodate. We have pioneered the 3D Scan-to-Pattern workflow. ExactFlat offers the only workflow proven to lead to consistently accurate 3D scan to 2D patter results.

What kind of products can be converted from 3D to 2D with ExactFlat?
ExactFlat can be used to convert surfaces from 3D to 2D on any type of product and here is why:
It works on any type of surface geometry. ExactFlat accurately flattens 3D CAD models with planar, curved or even complex surfaces. For example, the complex curved surfaces typically found in automotive trim, apparel, marine canvas, furniture and paint protection film are easily flattened by ExactFlat. This is because it is a 2 stage 3D to 2D flattener that eliminates wrinkles and folds and allows users to adjust their target strain.
It works with any type of material. ExactFlat is the ONLY 3D to 2D flattening software that takes into consideration material properties. ExactFlat 3D to 2D conversion works with traditional woven material, technical textiles, non-woven materials, metals and composites. If you don’t have material properties for your products, we provide a service for testing. It takes about a week, it is reasonably priced, and only needs a 30 cm x 30cm sample.
ExactFlat 3D to 2D digital patterning can be used with any type of product, having the ability to flatten 3D CAD models of any shape and any type of material. If you are interested to see if ExactFlat can convert your product from 3D to 2D, contact us. We’ll show you how!
